Ribbon has a number of uses. You probably have some lying around your home from a previous craft like making bows for your daughter's hair. You can use some of that extra ribbon to decorate your home for Halloween. See below for tips on how to decorate your home using ribbon.

1. Bat Branches

What You'll Need:

  • Black ribbon
  • White paint
  • Small paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Branches
  • Vase

Instructions:

Take plain black ribbon and cut about 3 inches off at an angle (both edges should be cut at an angle). Tie the piece of ribbon in a knot on a branch. The branches should be placed in a vase. Tie several pieces of ribbon on the branches, then add white paint to mimic eyeballs on the ribbon. You'll end up with branches that look like bats sitting in them.

2. Ribbon Pumpkins

What You'll Need:

  • Pumpkins
  • Ribbon
  • Glue

Instructions:

Take your pumpkin and tie a piece of ribbon around the stem of the pumpkin. Use a few different pieces of ribbon to give it more pop, or tie some black netting along with the ribbon for a little extra decorative touch. Think about using black polka dots, or yellow and orange ribbon. Take it a step further by adding matching ribbon to two other pumpkins and writing the letters "B, O, O" on the three pumpkins. Set them outside on your front porch or inside your home.

3. Candy Corn Ribbon Pennant

What You'll Need:

  • Ribbon
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions:

Pick out ribbon such as yellow or orange and white polka dots. Cut it a foot longer than you want your pennant to be, this way you have extra ribbon to hang it or tie it up. Next, cut construction paper colors yellow, orange and white to create a triangle piece of candy corn. You can also use scrapbook paper that has these colors in it, or print the image off of your computer. Make each pennant 5 1/4" wide. Add as many as you want to fit across your pennant. Glue each pennant to the backside of the ribbon and hang it on your mantle, or along your stair railing.

4. Ribbon Spider Wreath

What You'll Need:

  • Foam wreath
  • Orange and black ribbon
  • Plastic spiders
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions:

Take the foam wreath and begin wrapping the orange ribbon around it. Glue it in place using the hot glue gun. Add the plastic spiders around the wreath and glue them in place as well. Finally, take your black ribbon and tie a bow around it. Then hang it up on your front door to welcome your guests.

Halloween decorations don't have to be scary, they can be beautiful, decorative, colorful and welcoming to your guests. These are all fun decorations that your kids can help you with as well and all can be made on a budget. Get started by looking for some grosgrain ribbon.
